Work at the final TV resolution, 720x576. This way the output file won't get scaled down when when getting encoded to DVD. Avoid 1px lines & very fine type, they will look fine on your computers monitor, but will flicker when displayed on TV.
If the job is for broadcast you might want to deliver it as a uncompressed .mov or a tiff sequence, as MPEG2 uses quite a lot of compression.

What about the Cisco AnyConnect app? I keep reading old news how it'll be released when iOS 4 is - so where is it? I want this but can't find it in the app store. Or is it something your network admin has to get from Cisco and install for you?

Thanks, I hope that the store will give back another machine for the time they figure it out.
I also had a Kernel error with Snow Leopard OS original DVD inserted...
and another Kernel with Caldigit Expresscard USB3.0 inserted...
I'm taking a picture of every single error.
I hope it will stay alive, I'm in the middle of a work and I need a working machine (also because it isn't a cheap one!)
This machine makes me regret so much my 2009 17" one!

I was a junior in college. I woke up around 9:30, and when I went to my computer I had 2 IMs from friends. One said "Turn on the news" and the other said "Turn on your tv, big stuff happening." I turned it on in time to see footage of the towers getting hit, it just blew me the **** away. I was dating someone who worked for the Senate, and spent most of the day trying to get through to her, as well as my family in New Jersey to make sure everyone we knew were alright. I remember random things, like my friend Noah im'ing with friends in NYC and calling their parents since their phones were jammed....I can't believe it's been 4 years. It feels like it was both longer and shorter. It was burned into our national (and international) conciousness, but the time frame seems so small....

This is how I think it'll work.
You'll search for a location and then you click "Photo's took in this location."
Providing people who've took photos in that location have shared there photo's.
Imagine searching Google Maps/iPhoto for Photos in your favourite nightclub?

I've ordered it and will see if it suits my need. You're right, with all of my searching, and I've been searching, for some reason, I did not search enough!
After I try it, I'll report further.

No worries, I was just busting balls...slow day at work.
I have a couple friends with this (want one bad, but I'm too cheap) and it's THE best in-car cradle I've ever used. You won't be disappointed. Note: you have to use the charger plug washer supplied to be sturdy, plug a 3.5mm cable from your stereo to the base of the cradle and the cable from the mount to your iphone's 3.5mm jack for aux to work. Also, wrap the cable that goes from the mount to the iphone to the back of the mount to reduce excess cable hanging. You'll know what I mean when you're setting up the unit.
I'm actually surprised this unit isn't recommanded more often on this forum.
Edit - the FM version/function is complete garbage. Don't bother with it.

I'd just arrived at work on the 14th floor of the old New York Telephone building across the street from the North tower of the WTC. Heard engine sounds and a bang. My colleague turned to me and asked "what the hell was that?" to which I responded, quite accurately by my standards, "well, it sounded as if a plane hit a building".
We were then instructed to get out of the building, going down the stairs rather than taking the elevator, and stood out on West Street to see the building ablaze.
The buzz on the street was that there was a bomb. A few minutes later we were told to go back inside. We just about managed to return to our office and hook up the TV in our conference room in time to see the second plane hit, with a simultaneous shudder going through our own building.
"That tower's leaning!" exclaimed a co-worker, and that was it... even though the boss wasn't in yet, we all decided we were getting out of there ASAP... well, apart from one colleague who we had to practically drag out as he had a report due that day.
So we got onto one of the last uptown subway trains after the planes hit and were well clear before the towers fell. The rest of my morning was spent walking around midtown Manhattan hearing second-hand tales of the day's further attacks (Pentagon, Pennsylvania, etc), and worrying about what my family (in England) must be thinking, given that they knew I worked right by the WTC.
I remember spending that night on the couch at my sister-in-law's place in Brooklyn (as I couldn't figure out how to get back to Staten Island once I was in midtown) and the news reports were just numbing - at one point they were saying there could've been tens of thousands killed. For a while, it seemed life would just never return to normal. I've never been more happy and relieved to see my wife as I was the next day when she picked me up.
Four years later, we're still exiled from our old building (which I believe was the closest building to Ground Zero that didn't collapse), working from Brooklyn instead, but my company survived and so did everyone I know, so I have to be thankful for that...

Sorry, a very poorly constructed sentence. I meant that MacWrite and MacDraw were present in the "all original disks and cassette tapes" (hence my use of two 'and's in that sentence I'd mentally turned them into a single item).
I turned down the $1000 Mac on the basis that without having any idea how much the item should cost, it was unlikely I'd chance upon the correct price like this, and I'm not so interested in owning one that if $1000 turns out to be well below average then I'll be forever regretful.
For the record, I've recently seen one go on eBay with no boxes, the original floppy drive broken (but an external one provided for booting, etc) go for a little over 600 and there's currently one on eBay without boxes but fully working and exceptionally unaffected by time, with an external floppy drive with a buy-it-now price of $775.

OF course you do - need to repurchase. Do you really expect Apple to give away higher resolution content to those that already have the 320x versions?
If so, you need a reality check. Really.
It appears that you need to repurchase your pre iTunes 7.0 music videos if you want the improved quality. I experimented by repurchasing one of my pre iTunes 7.0 music videos. I now have two copies of the same music video. One at the old resolution; the other at the new resolution.
I believe this to be unsatisfactory. This is not a format change, but an incremental quality improvement. My computer is authorised, my account is valid, and my downloads legal.
Apple is getting two bites at the cherry!

I find the interface of this thing more interesting the the button thing... This must be the interface of the future because the menu system on the present ipods, i know its brilliant but its a bit old, by the way its more remote control than ipod, i think theres too much info on the screen for it too be an ipod... i reckon its a media remote control thing.. The patent doenst mention ipod so i think its a remote for bringing music to the living room... im probably wrong but thats what i think.. Anyway ive been waiting for touch screen not touch sides...
Sorry Chris but you're not allowed to criticise any industrial design. Ever. I still blame you for turning BMWs into swamp-donkeys. :p ;)
And iDrive - you've got some 'splaining to doooo.

I find it quite amusing that so many people think MS is doomed. Especially since they are killing VPC. I don't think it was or ever will be a big revenue maker for MS, so it probably cost them more to keep it around then to shelve it.
I certainly think it would be great to see them lose about 40% of their desktop market share to OS X and Linux, but if that ever happens, it wont be a long time to come. All this MS is doomed and has messed up crap is nuts. Funny, but nuts.
Mr. Gates has already dropped the ball; I just hope Monkey Ballmer stays long enough to finish his bad job at MS...we would be all grateful.

"Top News: Steve Jobs Taking Leave of Absence"
My apologies if someone has already posted this, but I'm getting increasingly irritated by this new 'feature' on the main page.
When something was important (like his leave of absence or a countdown to an event), that space was used for that purpose and removed when it was no longer relevant.
Now, you have a permanent space for it and it's almost like crying wolf. When something important really needs to go there, most people will likely ignore it because you've had the same "Top News" there for weeks.
I could go on, but I think you got my point. Leave good enough alone until a true redesign.
Thanks,
theheadguy

Went to BestBuy today and had a sales person tell me not to buy a mini but get an imac........he said the speed was too slow compaired to the imac. Also that by the time I paid for mouse, monitor, keyboard I would have the same about of money invested. Just wanted some opinions?
Thanks
yes the iMac has a faster processor and abetter GPU , but the mini is meant as a very basic computer for people who have a keyboard , a mouse and a monitor or TV at home already i was told and is 60% cheaper
and if you use the mini for what is was meant for , browsing the web , emailing , watching a movie , and some other light tasks then you will not notice a difference really
the mini was never meant to replace a iMac or Mac pro
to cosmetic surgery just
Face Lift Makeup

I was on the train to work that day when all a sudden, every cell phone in the train went off all at once. People were starting to talk about the WTC being hit with a plane, but nobody knew it was terrorism at that point. When I got to my stop (in the Financial District in Chicago's Loop), everyone was running up the stairs to get on the train. It was almost chaos. I went into my office and that's when I found out exactly what happened. The mayor then ordered everyone to evacuate downtown. I spent the rest of the day trying to contact friends in NYC who lived on Lower Manhattan. Little did I know I wouldn't be able to get in touch with them for over a week, due to the heavy phone traffic. It was a horrible, horrible day. Not knowing if my friends were OK was the worst though.

AppleInsider Article: "The filing is credited to four Apple employees: Nick King, Duncan Kerr, Paul Herbst and Steven Hotelling."
Is this the type of thing Apple does? Thought they had more control over employee/press relations...
The whole article sounds a bit overloaded with info - is it April Fools?http://forums.macrumors.com/images/smilies/redface.gif

hi,
what been missed out in this discussion is that the ACD has no HDCP support !!! that means no protected Blueray HD content plays
( maybe thats why there is no blue ray option yet !)
and even when DVI is compatible to HDMI , without HDCP the ACD stays black, which makes the name Cinema a bit obsolete ,

I do I agree, I would love to see starcraft 1 touch on the ipad......but I'll play Red Dead Redemption or Dead space on my tv
Well, as I said before, this isn't iphone against consoles, this is iphone against other handhelds. We should be comparing games we'd expect to play on the handheld devices.
Of course console is going to be better. If we are talking about playing at home and not needing portability, of course the console is a better choice than any of the handhelds.
You're comparing apples to oranges here. You may not be interested in handheld gaming, but that is what is relevant to this discussion, not console gaming. The iphone and other hand helds really aren't competitors to consoles, they serve a different purpose really.

Hi. I need some help with a malfunctioning color stylewriter 2500. Whenever I try to make a test page, it just passes through the printer without printing anything. I've already replaced the ink cartridges. Any ideas?
