wow Matt, you must live in a special area of Minneapolis, because my experience with AT&T; coverage in Minny is terrible! I was over in St. Louis Park just yesterday and my wife and I both had NO SERVICE until we got into Edina, and when my wife was in downtown at her patent lawyers office (IDC) she had 1 bar on Edge, and could not stay connected for more than 30 seconds before dropping the call. Thankfully in Prior Lake, I have decent coverage.
That's odd because I get great service in St. Louis Park (I'm in that area a lot) and I live and work downtown and get great service both indoors and out. I very rarely go below 5 bars anywhere I am in the metro area - I only experience diminished service along I-35 heading north to Duluth. My roommate has an iPhone as well and has the same experience I do. I've had AT&T; now for about 3 years and have never had problems. I do agree that Sprint has great service as well in MN, I had them before the iPhone came out.

this very thread and the sales thereof indicate a HUGE interest in being able to view Flash on iOS devices and no amount of BS nonsense on your part will change that fact.
The popularity of SkyFire is a wake-up call to website owners to update their media inventory from legacy Flash wrappers to HTML5.
Your implication that people would return an iOS device based on just a single feature alone is ludicrous.
Flash is either a mission-critical for people or it is not. Evidently it is not mission-critical to the owners of 120M+ iOS devices.
I've pointed out there is no equivalent of the iPod Touch from Android and therefore no reasonable alternative regardless of one's feelings about the inability to view Flash web sites.

The owners of 120M+ iOS devices are doing just fine without Flash. There are serious problems with Flash on laptop and desktop computers:
Too many laptop users are tired of the CPU loading and battery suck of Flash apps.
Too many users don't like that Flash alters the UI inside of the browsers: altered scrolling behavior, keyboard shortcuts that don't work in Flash, text searches that don't work with text in a Flash app.
Too many privacy advocates are bothered that Flash maintains a separate set of cookies and those cookies do not honor the privacy settings of the browser. Commercial websites are using those Flash cookies to track users.
Too many security advocates are wary of using Adobe products because of Adobe's poor track record against security attacks.
You can't competently address those serious concerns with Flash in a browser.

See above. There are serious fundamental problems with Flash on websites. There's also a fundamental problem with Flash for advertisers: more users are blocking their ads with click-to-flash blockers every day. Putting your content in Flash now decreases the odds that it will be seen by users.
Adobe understands all of this. They are providing tools to update sites from Flash to HTML5 (http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2010/10/adobe-demos-flash-to-html5-conversion-tool.html). Sites should do the same and get their videos updated to HTML5. Lose the Flash, and you'll be able to serve up your content to all browser users on all platforms.
I'm sure there's some reason you're unhappy with that solution. That's fine. You're welcome to be a Flash Luddite if you wish.

An "average" sustainable long distance pace (12km/h, about 8mph) will burn through about 1000 calories an hour. I suspect she's not running quite that much ;)

Traditionally the Eskimo's ate 6000 calories a day... mostly animal fat. They needed that much to survive a hunter gatherer lifestyle in a very cold climate.

Wouldn't matter anyway if you were using a ThunderBolt external hard drive. Very few mechanical hard drives can even reach 1Gbps-2Gbps. You'll need several of the fastest SSDs in RAID to even reach ThunderBolt speeds.
USB 3.0 FTW. More practical.USB 2.0 brings my CPU to its knees, can't imagine how bad USB 3.0 is. Some people have **** to do for the 2 hours its transferring.

It's bad enough we've already hacked music apart by turning it digital, now we're treating it like soda pop. Everything is a bargain bin price war.
With the exception of very few bands and solo artist, this has been the case anyway. I think we would be kidding ourselves if we don't think the music industry has done this already. Pop seems to rule the airwaves and the tv so why should this be any different. Heck, you can't tell me hearing a song that came out less then a year ago being played on in a car commercial. Come on, it has already been commercialized.

Disagree about the LP album being even close to good, but I stated that before:rolleyes:
CD's? That's still just about all I purchase, beside my vinyl collection:D I want a physical copy for everything, and I like to have the artwork, AND get it signed by the artist when I see them live. I also get the ticket and place it behind the CD holder in the case. With my Genelec 1030A's I can tell if it's an MP3 or not:p Now where did the sweet spot between my speakers go again:rolleyes:
And on top of all that, it's your property to do with as you please...forever.:)

I tried this on a new server at work a few weeks ago. Dual x5650 eons and 72gb RAM
While I realize that this is the wrong place for it, that iMac I just bought is awesome although I was returning it either way for a larger hard drive so the update is best now.
Direct from DVD, it took Handbrake about 20 minutes to convert a movie to iTunes format. So sweet. And that's the lowest end 21 incher.

Personally, I'd hope that the new gaming consoles--read PS3--would offer some DIVX playback too. I have a Samsung HT-q70 that upscales to 1080i over HDMI and it has a USB port on the front that allows you to plug an external drive into it and it plays VCD, DVD, DIVX, MPEG 2 & 4. That would be a nice simple feature that can be added to these consoles that would make them more useful as a media center.

Sorry but I do not buy the report about AT&T; rep because your eligibility date does not change based on a particular phone not coming out at a certain time. I have an a 3G phone and I just became eligible for an upgrade in January. This date has not changed and AT&T; states that I can change whenever I want. I am waiting for the next phone so that I am not behind again. When I got my 3G, I did not know about their yearly upgrades so I missed the 3GS by one month and then iPhone 4 came out last year. I do not want to get the iPhone 4 just so that I can be behind again.:D

I really hope that it comes tomorrow as my apple store credit card is on fire waiting to be spent. ;) however @dpdesilva on twitter is rumoring that apple will delay imac refresh due to leaks and rumors being overshadowed by Bin Laden's Death. Personally I think it might be B.S. I care more about my Imac than the story of his death.
Sounds like a load of bs to me.. someone is fame hungry.. Why would the news of Osama's death overshadow rumors/leaks of the new iMac.. they are both on totally different scales and subjects. One is world breaking news.. one is not and I don't see how it's going to stop people like me from being worried about other things like my life, daily routine and this iMac that I want ever so desperately..

The problem with situations like this is that it's not the ones which go right (ie the victim gets saved by employees) which dictate the policy, it's the ones which go bad and end up in a lawsuit or something similarly bad for the company which do.

If I may, because Amazon sells 12 bags cheaper (per unit) than any other store. About once every 4-6 months I buy 12 bags of Haribo Gummi Bears for under $14.00. If you were to buy a 5 oz bag in store, you'd be paying at least $2.99, on a super good day. For me though, I need to put them away someplace where I'll likely forget or I'll eat a bag a day in place of a meal. :eek:
Not exactly what I was going to say but hit the nail on the head. It's much cheaper than going to the store plus gas and time it's a no brainer when these can be waiting for me on my doorstep when I get home.
