Bouncing back: Amanda Holden made her first public appearance since losing her baby at the Olivier Awards at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane

Brave Amanda Holden made her first public appearance tonight since losing her baby six weeks ago.

The Britain's Got Talent judge put aside her heartbreak and appeared in good spirits as she attended the Olivier Awards in London.

The 40-year-old actress looked stunning in a asymmetrical royal blue Ralph & Russo floor-length gown with her blonde hair cut into a new layered style.

Holden's attendance at the ceremony - where she presented the Best Actor In A Musical award - comes just a few weeks after she tragically lost a baby boy when she was seven months pregnant.

Taking to Twitter after the ceremony, she said: 'Had a lovely welcome on stage at Olivier Awards Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Hope its the first of many.'

She admitted 'my heart was going nuts' when she prepared to take to the stage at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

Also at the bash, she posed for a photo with her newest co-stars from Shrek: The Musical - Richard Blackwood, Nigel Lindsay and Nigel Harman.

The actress had just filmed the last Britain's Got Talent live auditions when she was rushed to hospital on February 1.

Despite attempts by doctors to save the baby, Holden's son was later stillborn.

Holden's spokesperson Alison Griffin said at the time: 'They are utterly devastated.

Amanda had been closely monitored throughout her pregnancy and it is not yet known what went wrong.

'Both Chris and Amanda would like to thank the midwives and staff at The Queen Mary Maternity unit at West Middlesex Hospital Isleworth for their tremendous support.'

Holden had only announced she was pregnant a few weeks earlier after previously suffering a miscarriage in 2009.

The TV star and husband Chris Hughes also have a five-year-old daughter Lexi.

Her return to the red carpet comes just a few days after she started using Twitter again.

The former Cutting It star admitted she found Twitter messages of condolence very supportive as she and her family came to terms with their loss.

She wrote last week: 'Getting stronger every day. Will never, ever forget. We are pushing forward as a family and starting to smile again.

'The messages on here have honestly helped us.'

In an interview with the Mail's Baz Bamigboye last week, Holden admitted she was finding solace by surrounding herself with friends and family.

She said: 'To be honest, just being at home with family and friends is the best tonic, the best therapy. I’m doing lots of that.'

Aside from her Britain's Got Talent duties, Holden is set to star in the new West End production of Shrek: The Musical at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane from May 6.
