Saw the first of the 3 ads on TV here in Tokyo a couple of hours ago on channel 6.
Not overly funny, but the others did give me a bit of a chuckle...

Based on some of the posts in this one forum, it seems that most are coming from loud mouth teens who know nothing, or just want to say something for the hell of it. Geez!
its a thursday afternoon. Shouldnt the intelligent people be... working?
im a bored college student, not immature kid. A little smartass humor does not hurt in my opinion. Unnecessary one word posts are annoying though.

A $300 ipad is perfect for the person willing to buy a $300 Dell computer. Apple should keep ipad 1 around at the reduced price to corner the low end tablet market. Perhaps a year from now Apple could sell ipad 1 for as low as $200?
This is a real surprising trend for Apple products, I cannot recall such deep discounts on the "old" model of anything in the past. I have an iPad1 and was planning to sell it and get an iPad2. But the "value" of both just when south by 40% to 50%.
What I mean is - I can't be the only one thinking if I wait until the iPad3 comes along I'll be able to grab an iPad2 for 40% off.
I have to wonder what Apple is planning to prevent this from happening next year?
I'd keep the old one. It is a quality photo frame if nothing else. Put it on a table in the living room and have it for guests to use.

well i hope it's not from already mac owners buying intel macs. i hope the marketshare continues to increase
Apple retail store statistics imply that around 50% of folks purchasing a Mac are new to Mac. ...so new blood appears to be joining the platform.

Somehow, I knew you would reply like you did. Again, I have a job in an actual data center as a systems administrator. Let me tell you, I know the real story. ;) And it's not just my company. Go take a look around and see how many shops use Windows to run their SAP environnements. Their peoplesoft stuff. Heck, just their lowly Oracle installations.
And who said I was talking about Enterprise Macs ? My Unix boxes cost well over 100k$ a piece.
It depends on where you work. I have worked for agencies within the US government that were almost 100% Windows. Granted, we weren't running anything like SAP or Peoplesoft, but the servers virtually all Windows based. We had a few Solaris boxes scattered about, but that was about it. I guess Microsoft had better lobbyists
or something.
My current employer (different agency) is much better. Oddly, one of the components I work with is heavily...AIX. I guess IBM isn't totally dead yet.
Edit: Bah, forgot to do multiquote
Anyway, regarding the earlier discussion on Android vs. iOS: I don't see how Android is that hard to use. I never even looked at my user manual. It's all touch based with pretty icons. How is that difficult?

This was the funniest thing I've read all week.
I've been in insurance training, and in addition to financial people, there's been some, uh, "Desparate Housewives" getting their insurance licenses, and I'm picturing them passing around a poor phone and a bedazzler during class now.

It's a simple way to increase the iPhones attack surface and introduce more vulnerabilities that enable information to be stolen.

Hm, that pretty much sounds the same as the difference between conservatives and liberals in the US for the most part. Hope they don't try to take away your universal health care!
The Conservatives are for some privatization, or as they call it "alternative delivery", but I doubt the population will allow them to completely privatize healthcare. Normally I'm for a smaller government, but when it comes to healthcare you can only either trust the corporations who make lots of money off of you when you're sick, or you can trust the government. In this case I trust the government a lot more.

DUI checkpoints are unreasonable searches lacking probable cause. Any push back is reasonable and any support of them should be criminally prosecuted. Too bad they never prosecute themselves. We have lost our "right to liberty". Period.

I am trading this guy a crappy guitar for it. I don't plan on using it, just wondering if it is something I could flip and make a profit. And the guitar has not been used since I was around 10 and I am pretty sure it is from Walmart.

You probably don't have Adobe Reader installed. Mac OS X comes with an application called Preview which opens up PDF files. It is the default viewer for PDF files, even if you do have Reader installed. It also saves it to the desktop by default, like you explained.
If you do have Adobe Reader installed, check out the info on one of the PDF files. It should say Open With...and then have a drop-down menu and say Prev
iew. You can change this to say Adobe Reader, and then click the box that says change for all documents like this.
Note: This may not change whether it is saved on the desktop, because I don't think Safari or Mozilla has native-PDF support built into their browsers.

Can someone tell me how can a small SD card be able to hold 2t. If this is the case why are most External HD so much bigger?
It doesn't at the moment. The biggest capacities are 64GB. The standard allows for cards up to 2TB, when they eventually arrive (maybe in 5-10 years).
