yes I do ... and I am 100% in support ... I would be more than willing to pay more taxes if Canada increased our spending to bring us more on par with the US.
How can that possibly be justified? What is the threat that this budget is confronting?

i find it hard to believe that apple has had almost a year to add improvements to the ipods and all we're gonna see is upgraded hardrives.. dont they have an entire division working on these ipods.. they must have figured something out in that amount of time
predictions:
Core 2 Duo Imacs
True Video ipod
bumped nano harddrives(new enclosure?)
one more thing....?
yeh, your right, its not like apple are microsoft or anything. full screen ipods shuld be easy to make in a year

Odd. 8GB nano and 30GB video iPod = same price. I guess you really pay for "small"!

if that banner has everything that apple currently ships/makes - where the heck is the full body iPod??? I looked all over those pictures and only saw the nano. I understand not putting the shuffle up there but the not the iPod - are you serious?? I'm sure this will lend to speculation about nano's getting bigger HD's since there's no regular iPod in sight - haha.

Much faster. Even the 7300GT is significantly better.
Anyway, of the two NEW edition to the lineup, the 17" GMA iMac is much more important to Apple's well being. Why? Volume. They're going to sell ten of them for every 24". The 24" is a silver bullet machine. It's really cool looking, but I don't see many plunking down $2000 on a family computer. It's not going to really appeal to professionals or prosumers either because of its feature set.So you think the $999 model will be a home run? What about all those extras you get for only $200 more? Seems to me the $999 model just gets them into the store where a sales person sells them on the upgrade to the $1199 model.
On the top, I have to say that you will be so much better off with a 3GB - third party ram - 2GHz Mac Pro and a Dell 24" screen for a total of about $3k. And if you have a screen already, then it's even more of a no brainer to buy the 2GHz Mac Pro. My slant.

Just remembering the iMac Dock patent - the dock communicated with the notebook wirelessly. I suspect this is what the "Something's in the Air" posters are about. Imagine if the new ultra-thin Notebook has no cables at all - doesn't even have any sockets - maybe not even power socket or USB. It charges through contact conduction, and talks to the dock & optical drive via WiFi or some proprietary wireless protocol design for this purpose.
By eliminating all connectors, and the associated electronics, they can probably make a notebook thinner than anyone has ever seen before.

Doesn't mean facts are not alowed here. I simply stated facts. Apple does not have the best hardware you can not say they do. They make great computers but there are always companies who will make a better product then them. Unlike software witch is a mater of Opinion hardware is a mater of Fact and Fact is apple does not have the best hardware. They purchase their hardware from the same places as everyone else.
First of all I want to apologize for calling you a troll, that was uncalled for.
Apple has never been about the producing products solely based on their specs. In fact, Apple likes to downplay the specs and focus on the the integration of hardware and software. Hence, the total user experience. In some cases there are good reasons why Apple chooses not to use the latest hardware (Nvidia/Intel issue, battery life, etc.). One of the down falls of the Windows PC manufacturers is there insistance that all the user cares about is specs. Average Joe cares more about what they can get done whether then if the laptop has the latest gene
ration of processor in it. You can continue to argue all you want about which computer manufacturer has the best hardware but at the end of the day Apple is still packing their stores and fulfulling millions of on-line orders for soon to be very happy customers. If Apple followed the trend that the rest of the Windows PC manufactures are following there would be no doubt that Apple would not be as success as they are.
Apple follows the less is more mantra and guess what an awful lot of people agree with that by voting with their dollars.

USB will be obsolete by then, nobody can verify whether the iPod is still working or not.
Btw, have you checked the prices of 8" floppy disks lately? The single-density ones.
Time to buy an ipod, leave it in the box, then sell it in 30 years for $10,000? Try get Jobs to sign it first! How about $100,000?
And the first ipod had firewire?!?!?! What is this! We've downgraded!

I am professional editor. I get paid to edit. I just dont edit giant films. I think there is a little discrediting going on for what makes a professional editor.......A good editor is a good editor, it is an art. Just because someone is an "expert" on AVID, PP, FCP doesnt mean they are an good editor. Same as someone who knows how to put paint on canvas isnt necessarily Van Gogh.
I think this version will help us tell stories easier and more efficient. It is still up to the editor what he/she will do with the tool.
Amen!

I absolutely adore these attempts at prophecy. Bottom line: We have no idea what the thing will cost, and all we can do right now is make educated guesses.
Hence the name of this site: Mac Rumors.
I'll give you that not all the rumors or speculations here are "educated," but if I were to make a price bracket sheet I'd put $29 losing out in the first round and $129 in the Final Four.

Mine IS affected but the site is down! So annoying!
Kinda happy though, my battery isn't going that strong anymore.. coconutbattery reports 85%
You know, that 85 percent ain't all that bad. I've got the 14" iBook from that revision, and I'm at 87 percent. Considering that the batteries are supposed to last a year and a half - so says Apple - so that should mean we should be closer to 75 percent.

Off topic I know, but that iPod release thread is even better than Slashdot's 2001 coverage of the original iPod.
"$400 for an Mp3 Player!
I'd call it the Cube 2.0 as it wont sell, and be killed off in a short time...and it's not really functional."
And the award of prescience goes to:
"We live in the YEAR 2001... not 6000 years from now when ridiculously awsome technology will exist. No other mp3 player has a harddrive like this... 5gigs... **** yeah. A rio of the same size offers 64megs. Jesum Crow, get over your moping.. .this is revolutionary.... plus it's just the beggining. This device litterally bests anything on the market by about 100x"
and to:
"Apple hit a HOME RUN with this thing, and just as always proved that there's no one that can make products like them. Way to go Apple!"
(To which a hilarious response is:)
"Without a future. This Christmas you will see mp3 players be commoditized. Meaning that the players from Korea will be way less expensive tha iPod."
Too funny. That's why I reserve judgement. :)

I agree that Apple needs to come up with some new designs for their hardware.
Apple purposely wanted to keep the same designs when they transitioned from ppc to intel in order to make the experience feel seamless to the end user. I have no proof of this, it's just what I assumed because it makes so much sense.

I can't play more than 1 song before it crashes. I went ahead and appzapped the friggin program and started with a totally fresh install and I'm having the same problem. It plays 1 song and then crashes.
Another thing I noticed is that it misreports song length by a few seconds. It's reporting them too short. It plays out until the end and then backs up a second or two, then crashes.
Anyone else?

Toys R Us...Apple is SERIOUS about positioning the iPad for gaming and entertainment...maybe even education. I can see an iPad waterproof enclosure in the near future.

I'm curious to know whether these Top Secret features have been excluded from the developer preview as well........
Would they purposefully give developers a beta with striped down features?
And if the point of not publicly releasing them is that they dont want Microsoft to copy the features but they DO include those features in the developer preview, I have to imagine that Microsoft will see those features as I assume it is an official Apple developer and would receive these materials!
