If it's just an upgrade for the 5G iPod, I m gonna be disappointed......at myself. I was holding off to replace my aging 3G iPod, and was gonna wait till 6G (full screen). But if it's just about a larger harddrive, i really could have bought the current one loooong time ago.

Wow, what a beauty. I am surprised that the top model didn't come with a better graphics card standard though, especially because of its large screen size.

the key issue in my case was that my macbook couldn't go to sleep or be closed, everytime it woke up, it wouldn't last longer than 3 seconds and then shut down and all of the other known symptoms.
I ran the firmware upgrade and it works fine now, it's not hot or anything and the fans seem to be working at a normal pace.
Well, I am grateful for the fact that I don't have to turn in the mac for 5 days or more for servicing... I make a living out of this thingy...:D

Unless you are THERE, YOU CANNOT SEE THE KEYNOTE LIVE. IT WILL BE PUT ON APPLE'S WEBSITE 2 HOURS AFTER THE KEYNOTE ENDS.

They SOUND like they play the same thing, I can assure you they don't. Take one of those songs and listen to it in Mono and you'll be able to tell the difference most of the time.

For those hoping for a merom MacBook Pro (like me) on the 12th, I wouldn't hold your breath. Going by previous Apple laptop upgrade cycles, I would expect to see the merom MBP by around the middle of October.

I know what you mean, all those restrictions and regulations prohibiting the dumping of chemicals in the rivers and poison gasses into the air or killing endangered animals. IIRC, it's a feature, not a flaw.
Then how do you turn it off? If it's a feature I should have the option to c
hange it back to how it was. It's pretty annoying and I'm surprised no one else is complaining about it. I understand how some people might like it, but you would think there would be the option to decide which one you want. Similar to changing the rotation lock on the iPad to mute, some liked it and some didn't

Anyways, I reccomend people use this firmware instead of geting their heatsink replaced. The later option involves an ugly screw in the middle of your macbook.
Not only that. It will also make your keyboard turn pink and on a moonless night the Combo drive will start to play "La Cucaracha".

Yes, completely unacceptable! Over a typical WiFi network, it may take a massive 600 MB / 10 Mbps = 8 minutes! That's a conservative estimate. My DSL connection is at 18 Mbps.
Then it's a greater problem for those who have data caps in my opinion. But that's not a new problem for those, and downloading iOS updates. It's just that this time it doesn't need to pass through iTunes first.

Well, yes and no. I can do a full install on a Mac with a boxed copy of OSX because the license is in the hardware. You can't do a blank-HDD install of an update version of Windows.

I don't mind Radio Shack for random overpriced cables in an emergency, but I would never buy anything else in there. The salespeople are just far too pushy and circle around you like vultures attracted to a rotting carcass.

Well my MB was bought the day they were announced - my local Apple store didn't have them on display yet :) and mine hasn't had the shutdown issue.

We better be done with that by 20 freakin' 15. Veteran's benefits went from 149 to 125. Private charity will have to pick up the slack.
I had to end all foreign aid and I ended all agriculture subsidies. Programs with a budget less than 10 billion (like college aid) or less weren't cut at all.
Taxes had to be raised on income plus that bank thing. No sin taxes needed, no VAT needed, no carbon tax needed. Social security was fixed by raising the age and ending the wage limit. I ticked that last item, too.

As far as the iPhone goes, it looks a hell of a lot more believable than all the other potential "iPhones" around the internet.You guys are all screaming "fake" and "terrible design" which makes me think back to when the "MacBook" and "MBP" names were circulating around...and the switch to Intel.....and the switch to intel integrated graphics. Then when it turned out to be real you whined like a bunch of children, began to accept it, and now you love it (minus the integrated graphics.....even it's own mother hates it).

Quick question guys, I've been using a pc for many years and I've decided to get a MBP for college. I'll be doing some heavy photo and video editing, gaming and movie watching. I was looking at the 2.66 ghz 15" MBP, is that a good way to go, or do you think I need more power?
I have plenty of time to wait for the new refresh, I won't really need it until July. Any suggestions?
I'd say if you can wait, wait. You'll be able to take advantage of educational pricing from Apple which will help in terms of cost of the new models.
I have an older 2007 2.4GHz Santa Rosa that I run Aperture 3 on and while it's not completely fluid, it handles my 21MB, 15MP RAW files pretty well. I think the 2.66 would probably serve you well if you needed to buy right now, but if you have time there's really no reason not to wait.

I think Apple's strategy has always been to delay implementing new technology until it functions seamlessly.
