Launch FIRST abroad? Nope. That itself voids the entire "rumor."
When has Apple launched a flagship product abroad BEFORE launching it in the States?
Horrible rumor. Maybe it's still April 1st in Korea?
And I would be surprised if Apple released the iPhone 5 without a second-gen LTE chip (since they said first gen stuff was not power efficient enough, which I can understand). Why release two product generations before going to LTE ? (assuming iPhone 6 would be the next possible intro of LTE)
It's to Apple's benefit to release a dual mode phone (LTE/GSM) to save on manufacturing; we just don't know the cost of production or which chipset they could get in volume that has LTE/GSM/CDMA. Someone should do an analysis and find the most power efficient chip that's ready for mass production.
And I don't think Apple is the type of company to feel pressured by history, i.e. "we've been releasing a new product every year, so we HAVE to release a new product every year." More like John Carmack, "It'll be ready when it's ready," because people will still buy Apple and not enough would defect to hurt Apple's bottom line.

I agree. Nike shoes are the least of our worries when it comes to tracking.
As you said above, someone could simply watch you go by. Since cameras can now transmit their images to facial recognition software, that process could be automated as well.
And when we're calling 911 from our cell phones or trying to find our lost dog with the implanted chip or our car with the LoJack, we're glad that all of these tracking systems are in place.

I don't ask for much in this world, but please let this remain picture free. The "Sharing a joke" thread I began yesterday evening was closed quickly ... if pictures of the piercing appear here and survive, my only question will be, "What is more entertaining -- jokes that make you laugh or pics with the power to turn a stomach?"
To each his own.Yes, but that was spam to entertain a bored member.
This is spam to torture a MR member, which doesn't get closed as quick -- at least until it goes way off topic.

IMO if it's a touch screen they they overlays could just be clear overlays with the letters of the keyboard on it, or the symbols of where the slider would be, and you look at the screen to see where the levels are on the slider. (It's not like I don't have to look down and see where my hands are every once in a while when I'm running sound, to make sure I'm adjusting the Acoustic Guitar, not the Electric Guitar or the kick drum.)
Back to the overlays, they could just be about paper thin, with a circuit in one corner that they computer detects and that circuit tells the computer what the overlay is, then the computer responds accordingly. So you wouldn't have to be carrying around a keyboard and a mixer, just a couple of overlays that are about the thickness of a transparency. Now you'd still need a mechanical joystick, but everything else could be done by thin overlays.
Hope this makes sense.

Working flawlessly and feels like a new machine.
I highly recommend it.
Should carry me at least another year.
I ordered 8gb RAM and installed an SSD... I'm more than satisfied at my computer now... well besides "meh" battery life and flickering 9400m of course.... :-/

I just read the text transcript. I was sadly dissapointed that nothing I wanted got announced.
Even the things that I didn't really care about but would have been ultra cool to be mentioned didn't :(

The more I hear about Leopard (or even DON'T hear), the more excited I get to watch every last little bit of Vistas thunder stolen by it. You absolutely know Mr. Jobs is keenly aware of the opportunity to make M$ look like a bunch of schmucks here.

Billions?
You know, if you believe that people are out to get you long enough, eventually they will be.
Perhaps they find this position to be useful, somehow?
As for One of One Billion (me), I care not a whit who gets in my car.

Design has nothing to do with it. It is a function of availability of parts. If the parts are not being made yet, the phone can't be manufactured. I am hoping Apple is waiting for the second generation LTE chips.
Well yes,..
If the issue is purely the tech just isn't ready then throwing cash at it won't help.....
but Apple has a big horde of Cash so if the issue with the parts is the economic risk of retooling to build them and ramp up production. Then that is something pre-buying maybe able to solve.

Xserve lags so far behind the Mac Pro in release, costs much more, has little to make it better and just as much to make it worse. I would love to have an Xserve, but I don't understand why anyone would buy one.
I believe, for a server, it offers much more. I think it has redundant power supplies, lights-out operation and includes Mac OS X server. Since you obviously don't need those things (since you see no value in them) I don't know why you would want one.

Who killed the EV-1 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Motors_EV1)?
Case closed.
If I recall, GM actually designed and prototyped a series hybrid version of the EV-1 that had excellent fuel economy. Had they pushed this vehicle though development, they would have had a huge jump on the market. Instead, they killed the entire program and it was Toyota and Honda who finally made the hybrid practical. The Prius was a money losing proposition at first but Toyota perservered with it and now it is a (modestly) profitable car.

im hoping this quietly fixes the unresponsive home button issue.
I've been having problems with the home button on my iPhone, but figured it was just the hardware going bad. Perhaps not? Is this an issue many have been experiencing?
The trouble I experience is that sometimes when I double-click the home button, it takes me to the search screen rather than the multitasking bar. Other times when I double
-click the home button (or even single-click it), it does nothing at all. Is that what you're also talking about?
And the biggest question of all does this update fix it?

Yet another discussion where the iPhone as a device by itself is being lumped into an OS discussion with Android, that is found on countless different devices. I'd love to see a comparison of PHONE sales.... iPhone sales versus HTC Evo, HTC Thunderbolt, Motorolla Droid X, etc.
As a separate note, where are all of the Verizon iPhone doomsdayers that proclaimed the network would go down and the device would fail on Verizon? They sure disappeared like a fart in the wind. Let me guess, when the 5 comes out, the network will then be bogged down? I can't express how happy I've been with the Verizon iPhone thus far.

List:
-Better optimization for graphics and multi-core processors/threading
-Mail Client upgrade
-more minimalistic designs
-Better Dashboard (more useful/better optimization)
-Memory management can be optimized a bit too
(Basically I care little about aesthetics and more about optimization of the OS and better use of hardware to make things more speedy and run quicker, smoother and using the hardware advantages that are available.
