Is it just me or do the colors seem brighter than the Mini's? It could just be my screen.
They look brighter to me, as well. Can't wait to get my Silver one!

Would the new iMac 23 inch qualify for the back to school promotion?
What about an 8 GB nano?
Of course, the promotion is very specific about models on Macs and iPods:
http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Images/bts/bts_faq.html
Unless Apple makes a special exception, my guess is that neither model would qualify. The promotion rules specifically state 17 or 20 inch iMac, and 1, 2, or 4 GB nano. Check the FAQ about the promotion.
Any tips about this? Maybe I'll check with Apple directly by telephone, if a new iMac and new nano are actually introduced next week.

i have a week 26 white 2.0 MB. it has a screw on the bottom in the dead center. it was never serviced.
Dunno what week it is, but I got it in October. I got screwed too, right in the middle right out of the box. Hasn't been serviced. As I said though, it was nice and quiet before the firmware update...
Can anyone show a pic of a MB without the center screw? lol

i thinking of getting an ipod but i need to know your opinion of it should i stick with an mp3 player? what can an ipod do that an mp3 player can't?
You might want to take this to a new thread.
That said, an iPod is an "MP3 player", but one that has a great user interface and complete integration with iTunes and the iTunes Music Store where you can buy music, audiobooks and even videos.

Dunno why peeps call grenade launchers and powerful combos "noob". It's a good strategy, then use it.
No one is saying it makes you a noob. It comes from the old Halo days. The old "Noob Toob" was the Halo 2 rocket launcher, because it had lock-on for everything. Which sucked, and basically took all the skill out of using it. In Reach, the Rocket Launcher only locks onto airborne vehicles, and even then, you can evade them if you pilot them well.
And the "Noob Combo" was referred to that not because it made you a noob, but because it was soooo easy to kill them with it. Run around with the Plasma Pistol charged up, blast someone to drop their shields, quickly switch to the BR, and boom, headshot and done. Now there are a couple ways to pull this off. Either an Overcharge shot from the Plasma Pistol, or a Delay Shot from the Grenade Launcher will EMP your target, leaving them open to a quick and easy one-shot headshot.
But again, as I said earlier, getting your hands on a headshot-capable weapon is not that easy in Reach campaign, so you have to be very efficient with your ammo usage to keep it up.

Installed it on my PC:
The iTunes application could not be opened. An unkown error occurred (0x666D743f)
Huzzah!
Same error here, reboot fixed it. Funny, it told me I had to reboot on my laptop, but not on my desktop. Anxious to see it on the iMac when I get home.

Thats no true.
Apple just a few days ago released Mac OS X 10.6.7 and was only 475MB, and the Combo update was only 1.12GB. Mac OS X 10.6.6 brought the Mac App Store and was only 143MB.
I don't know why your updates are 4GB.

I'm pretty sure he was referring to apps purchased in the Mac AppStore, not the OS itself.

I didn't even notice the 1GB standard RAM until you mentioned it... I hope this ushers in a change for the other pro models...
Perhaps Mac Pros don't come standard with 1GB RAM because they are supposed to be super configurable, and Apple assumes more RAM will be added anyway?
The Mac Pro does come standard with 1GB of RAM. You can't configure a model with any less than 1GB of RAM.

Does anyone in Australia (or anywhere else similar) know exactly when your education discount no longer applies for uni? Your last day of classes? Your last exam? Graduation day 2-3 months later? Because I should be finishing in February and I wanted to know how long to hold out. Will Leopard be out by Jan/Feb? Or at least a free upgrade for laptops purchased late Jan/early Feb?
Well... I haven't gone to school in over a year and a half, but I still have my student ID so I keep it in my wallet and use it whenever I buy stuff at the Apple Store. No expiration date printed on the ID

I suspected it would be extremely soon, that's why I didn't bother doubling up and getting the previous 899 model out on display as well as the 749.
Anyway, the 1GB of RAM was expected as far as I was concerned, but I didn't expect the BlackBook to jump straight up to 120GB in one shot.
So, base to mid we have faster cpu with better L2 cache, bigger hard drive and DVD burning now. Easier to persuade people to go higher than previously.

My FCS3 install spans 7 DVDs and weighs in around 50gb. FCPX as a stand alone app will be ~300mb, but they'll have to offer it on physical media if they plan on including all the extras that ship with the current suite. I'm sure it'll be $999 full, or $299 upgrade for the full studio. At least I hope so. Here I stand, cash in hand!
I really can't wait to see what happens with Logic.

Did anyone else read the topic and say "You got that wrong! There already was a 2G iPod nano, it's the 8G one that's interesting!"
It took a few rereads before I realised they meant "2nd Generation"

Don't like that electric blue note icon at all - reminds me of the Manchester City strip from a couple of years back before we reverted to sky blue. But maybe it will look better on the super screen of my MB... WHEN IT ARRIVES! I ORDERED IT A MONTH AGO APPLE, AND IT STILL ISN'T HERE!

I don't think Apple changed their assembly line until week 35. If the serial number of your Mac is less than WH8635, then I don't think it has the new heatsink.
how do i know witch week is my macbook
also the serial number is 4H640203Uxx
so i take it it is less then WH but my doesn't even start with WH anywhere in the serial number line

Secondly, for those of you that are changing your "A" to "B" or "C", did you ever think that you might be taking someone elses valid serial # and are taking their battery away from them???
I'm not bothered as long as i get mine..........

Extended warranties aren't always bad though - you think I want to deal with Sling if my Solo goes on the fritz? I was happy to pay a bit extra for the security of knowing I could go back to BB for two years (especially since reviews on Amazon have consistently pointed to issues shortly after the one year mark).
And I definitely wish I'd gotten it for my HDTV whose screen crapped out at 18 mos.

I think the question of fault is moot, if there is a security problem it needs to be fixed, and if it is a simple fix, that happens before any real life security problems occur, then all the better! What I wonder is are macbooks the only macs with the issue, or only intel macs with wireless cards, or all models using a wireless card. -for example would my powerbook g4 be vulnerable.

How? Why? Seriously guys. Maybe Apple WILL implement eBook functionality. But if I know something about Apple, they take baby-steps. You can expect ONE insanely-great new feature in the new iPod. No more.
