Beautiful in beads: Keira Knightley wore a stunning beaded dress to the premiere of Never Let Me Go at the opening of the BFI London Film Festival tonight


Keira Knightley arrived at the premiere of her new film Never Let Me Go wearing a daring beaded dress, just hours after arriving at the movie's photocall in a dress she looked like she had made herself.

The 25-year-old actress looked stunning in the cream beaded outfit, which was cut dangerously low on the back, which she teamed with trendy black velvet heels as she took to the red carpet.

However, her co-star Carey Mulligan did little to inspire fans in a slightly ill-fitting white halterneck dress with a black and red geometric print.

Keira's outfit was worlds away from the odd taupe lace and blue silk outfit she had earlier worn to the film's photocall, and she managed to look both sexy and sleek as she posed for photographers at the opening gala of the BFI London Film Festival in London's Leicester Square.

Earlier today, Oscar-winning actress Keira revealed she loved her role in Never Let Me Go, an adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's novel, because her character is so obnoxious.

Keira, more used to playing the heroine, said: 'It was great. I saw that the character was fascinating - for me it was kind of a study of jealousy and fear. She commits great harm and I thought it was interesting trying to get into her head.'

In the film, which also stars Andrew Garfield, Keira is involved in a love triangle, born out of her character's jealousy.

She added: 'I didn't like her and it's tricky playing people that you don't like and finding a way to empathise with them. And that's challenging and very exciting.'

And Carey added she also enjoyed starring in the film, which tells the story of clones bred purely for the purpose of becoming organ donors, because it was a darker subject matter for her to concentrate on.

She said: 'It's always harder to maintain raw enthusiasm or joy than to go into a really dark place.

'This for us really was about trying not to cry. I cry all the time, it's my modus operandi. We all wanted to hold back, we all kind of marked each other, 'Don't drop a tear'.

'We were all watching each other a bit. We didn't want to portray tragedy or observe our circumstances, we just wanted to live in the world that we were in with the circumstances we had.'

Carey, 25, won a Bafta and was nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe for her performance in An Education earlier this year, and has followed Keira to Hollywood, appearing in Wall Street 2.

Meanwhile, Garfield, 27, who won critical acclaim for his performance in Boy A, stars in chart-topping Hollywood film The Social Network and has been cast as the new Spider-Man.

But the young actors insisted they saw no difference between work on Hollywood blockbusters and independent projects.

Garfield said: 'I'm pretty sure we can say we all approach every job as if it was our last, and our first... and we're all never going to work again.

'I think taking on a perspective of 'here's a big film', or, 'here's a small film, I'd better be really good in this', I think you work hard at what you care about.

'I think Carey and Keira, I respect greatly because they do projects that mean something to them and I'm pretty sure they don't discriminate in terms of size or any of that stuff. I don't think that's an issue. I think we're colour blind to that sort of thing.'
