I love the fact Apple has competition. I believe iOS 5 will benefit a lot from "successful" Android technologies. Competition means better phones, better software, and lower prices. I'd take any of those three things over "bragging rights".

I don't think so.
Hey I like bow ties -- tying one is a lost sartorial art!
Okay, short of bow ties: Take a business card, turn it vertically and write "MacRumors" (or "MR") on the back, near the top. Insert it in your badge holder behind the plastic badge.
If you don't have a business card, they can be found in abundance on the Expo floor. ;)

Give me a break. I'm sure your "experience" is vast, and you know every person at Princeton.
I happen to have the displeasure of knowing a good many more than I'd like to, and I'm telling you there's no way that a full 45% of that student body are blue-blooded Mac users. Princetonians are a people lacking utterly in subtlety and charm, and even poorer in aesthetic intuition. They're the people who pose with upturned collars! I can't stress strongly enough: These people aren't Mac users. They're switcheurs.

It's easier for them to do whole copies of the OS every time because people could go from iPhone OS 2.0 to iOS 4.3.3 if need be without having to patch to every subsequent release. It also cuts down on the risk of corruption.
I'd call it lazy instead of easier. They could easily detect the current version installed and download the approriate patch, or fall back to the whole OS if it's not the most recent update.

My guess for GPU would be size and heat. If you can see, there is very little wiggle room for anything else in an iMac.
Makes sense
would a bigger display in the future over come this issue?

Bummer that you can't overclock that 920. You could do some bigadv units. I do wonder what that chip would be capable off. Those 920s are overclocking beasts.
How's that laptop folding?
I do recommend the gtx 460s. They are an excellent running card with lower temps and power consumptions. I've always wanted to buy a kill-a-watt to test out what my rig pulls on full and idle.

I'll get slammed for this - but I don't care. Apple is playing a big part in the dumbing down of (some of) society by taking control/options away from users and keeping a walled garden.
Making tech simpler and more enjoyable to use for everyone is *helping* society. You shouldn't need any kind of extra training to use a "computer."
Apple's "walled garden" is the REASON for their success. Didn't you know that? They've been doing the walled garden thing for over a decade. The result? Exxon Mobil's about to occupy second place. Apple has more spare cash than the total worth of a lot of not-insignificant tech companies. And consumers time and time again have given their consent. Apple's approach is a *good* thing for everyone. Their results show pretty clearly that consumers have said YES to Apple's approach. Yes in good times, ye
s in a recession. It's been constant, some would say totally unprecedented growth for Apple. That's huge. Both because a lot of their gear tends to be more expensive, their ecosystem is controlled, and they usually don't license anything out to anyone (I thank my lucky stars for this last point every day.)
We don't need more "options." There are so many options out there it's absolutely staggering. What we *need* is simpler, usable, enjoyable tech, for *everyone.* Throwing an ocean of options at the user is not the answer. Having a ****-load of options available purely for the sake of having them available, is not the answer. Making tech easy, accessible, and as worry-free as possible is the answer. That means you can't take the stuff you make and let other people mess with it. That means closed licensing. That means actually paying attention to what is done with the tech. That means keeping a tight rein on who can alter it and how it's done.
This is why Apple is so successful, usually by doing the opposite of everyone else. Which, in turn, prompts everyone else (with a few exceptions) to move more in Apple's direction, ironically.
Now your mom and your grandma can use tech and look like experts doing it, thanks to Apple. If you think that particular perspective doesn't matter, you're in for a huge surprise over the next few years.

Since when does Microsoft fix bugs? They just keep introducing more and more features to bury the bugs.

By the way Thunderbolt is the high speed transfer highway of the future ... not SATA111, USB3.0 or the like.
But the boot drive still runs off of SATA, not TB. That boot drive can be one that is faster than SATA II can handle. There's really no reason not to update those busses to SATA III, pc's have had it for a while and even the last Macbook update upgraded that.

ACK!!!!!
I think this update killed my firewire!!!!
My Mac Pro and my Macbook took the updates, my Macbook Pro C2D did not need it.
I tried backing up my Macbook to my Macbook Pro and Mac Pro via Target Mode, and now ALL THREE are NOT seeing ANY firewire device!!!
What Happened????

For those with beards and home knitwear, and who like a bit of cask beverage, may I recommend The Brewery Tap in Chester, UK (my home town).
It's owned by local independent brewery Spitting Feathers and has their own products plus plenty of guest ales. It's situated in a magnificent Jacobean great hall, part of Gamul House, where King Charles I stayed in 1645 during the Battle of Rowton Moor (which he lost), prior to losing his head.
....
Imagine how history would have been different if Charles had stayed away from the ale taps the night before..... :D

What does the screen look like when you remove the front
flass panel? Is is still glossy under there? If the glass panel is just stuck on magnetically like that then what prevents companies of making simple bezels to replace it with the screen area cut out?
Magnetic ... glass isn't magnetic ... only iron, nickle, cobalt are magnetic. Your suggestions are not even possible ... learn physics before you suggest crazy ideas like this.

Yes I agree. What do you think the decline has been attributed to?
1: The Big Club. You know - the big corporations and the politicians they have in their pockets, lobbying to get more for themselves and less for everybody else. They do whatever they want because people are ignorant or they don' t care (see below). I'm talking about the bank managers who pay their executives million-dollar bonuses and get the politicians to cover the red numbers with the taxpayer's money.
2: The masses. They don't care about the Big Club because they are too busy watching cheap TV-entertainment while consuming their microwaved dinners - just a modern version of the classical "bread and circus".

Subtotal $98,711.00
Just keep in mind that $50k of that price is the support contract.
I'm not sure what you'd be doing with a single XServe (and 14.9TB of storage) that would require 24/7 1-hour response service from Apple, but hey -- whatever floats your boat.
