Ridiculous? I defy you to name one thing (http://arstechnica.com/apple/reviews/2003/04/finder.ars) that Apple has fixed in the single-worst, most user-hostile app ever written for the Mac!

To a bad dancer even balls hinder movement.

Movie and TV show rentals coming to iTunes. Karoke added to iTunes and fun for Apple TV.

I think a new Mac Book Pro design is long overdue. Apple remote stores in laptop, perhaps in expansion card slot. May move away from aluminum to something lighter like magnesium, carbon fiber or cubic zirconium, or may just anodize the aluminum case black. May see new screen ratios and HD resolutions across MBP line. Track pad will be bigger and multi-touch gestures will be expanded.

Cinema displays will be thinner, specs improved and all will be HD resolution. Aspect ratios may change. iSight cameras across the line are possible.

Mighty mouse made of metal to compliment new keyboards, and support for pinch - push.

Movie and TV show rentals require more space.

Bump iTouch and iPhone to 16gb and 32gb to allow more room for content. Possible 50 dollar price cut on 16gb iPhone and 16gb iTouch. No other changes to iPhone / iTouch for now. Possible partner for iPhone in Mexico announced.

iPhone/iTouch SDK introduced, premier partners ready with first applications. Demo of new apps. iPhone software update has bonus features not leaked to public.

iPod nano, classic, iTouch and iPhone will control Apple TV. Fair Play Video recording enabled on Apple TV. Games enabled on Apple TV with third party remotes.

iPod classic now supports Time Machine and Home on an iPod is a reality.

    One more thing...
iTablet. Kicks Wacom Cintique out of the game. Supports stylus and finger gestures. Pressure sensitive. 8-12" in size. Runs iWork and Adobe Creative Suite support coming soon. Thinest Mac ever. No optical drive, but not sure about a hard drive.

LOL. Grow up. You sound paranoid: Everyone is out to get Apple.

The Antenna issue is real. It was bought about because enough people were having issues not due to some kind of grand conspiracy.

What, the only person talking about a "conspiracy" here is you!

The number of people having this issues was and is tiny BUT they were making a LOT of noise about it. Apple had to *defend* themselves and they did a good job! It didn't shut up the "haters" because what they want is for Apple to say "Yep the bloggers and forum posters where right and we were wrong!"

Apple addressed the issue with a smart mix of PR and facts!

Get out and see the world? I was born and raised in Europe, have been to 50 countries and have lived on 3 continents. And you? And I much enjoy living on a 5-acre property with 2 houses on it offering 9 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms and all the bells and whistles next to Woodside. To me space is just a great luxury, not bumping into one another, being able to house grown kids and friends for extended periods of time, etc. To each their own, but I truly cannot see Jobs' tiny home (by Woodside standards) being anything but a retirement house. It does NOT look like a home for a family with kids. An older couple perhaps. And where is the home office?
You're a bit out of touch, perhaps. On top of that, you continue to stress your wealth and worldliness in each post.

Most Americans do not have what you do. And to the person who said I've never experienced "4 screaming kids," I have.

I think you both are just use to having more, and space, and more space. My grandmother raised her six children in a three bedroom, one bath home — that she shared with my grandfather — and never had any issues. My grandparents, mother or my aunts never complained, and looking back, I think the experience enriched them tenfold. My grandparents were successful and could have afforded a home with "enough space" (by your standards) for all their kids, but they made out just fine in the first floor of an apartment building with "just" 2,200sq. feet.

You obviously have never lived like most people; you say that quite plainly by stating you've "been to 50 countries" and lived on "three continents."

It's the internet, and you can be as big of an elitist as you want. However, you're the type whose coming across as the largest, most arrogant person in the room [forum?]. If you were really as cultured as you seem to suggest, you'd have an air of refinement (that's noticeably lacking here), knowing that bragging is no way to get ahead.

But, you're already a "higher level person," so who am I to hold you back?

    The US telecoms are controlled by a small number of companies. If the corporations weren't buying influence, we could expect some relief from the FCC (federal communications commission). However, congress and the presidents have de-fanged the regulatory teeth due to prompting from companies like verizon and AT&T.;
So we can't use our data as we wish, we can't add a block of tethering to an unlimited plan and we have to pay through the nose for what we do have.
Thank the dev team for the JB. :D
Around $50 USD per month, it comes with 3900 minutes voice + unlimited data and free to use on tethering.

    Oh my god...

did Apple seriously just make pointing fingers apart of their campaign?

I thought they were above that!

I understand that it's unfair that the other companies do that and all, but Apple really doesn't need to stoop to their level, do they?

They're not stooping. They are defending their product by demonstrating that the issue is not unique to their phone. I think most people instinctively knew this before the iPhone - telling someone that holding a phone a certain way might reduce the signal would have resulted in a shoulder shrug. Of course it will, it's a radio.

The N1 can't maintain a 3G signal when touched, period. Yet it didn't cause this kind of outcry because it wasn't from Apple.

It was a good message until they stated "Before you pick a phone, pick a network." That would be valid in an iPhone-less world. They would still be selling us phones based on a spinning CGI rendering of a phone's outer shell. "Look! A plastic candy bar! You like candy, don't you? Then you'll love our rectangular phone! Brand new features like rounded edges and three colors!"

Apple changed the game. The device should now be the focus. The service should be an afterthought in the background.

No the add is right. To many people drool over apple so they go with ATT. If you picked AT&T; for the iPhone and knew the service was spotty in your area you loose all right to complain about it.

The smart people out there first pick a network that offers them the price they want and the coverage. Then your worry about what phone to get. The iPhone is not game changing and it sure as hell is not THAT much better any more with all the other phones hitting the market.

As for the add that was the exact reason why I left them. Verizon had crappy service out in Lubbock Texas and lied about them moving there network out there. They told us 6 months and that 6 months claim turn was not filled 4 years later of course I left at the end of the first year when my contract was up. I switch to AT&T; because service was great there and in Houston so I choose them. I choose a network that works were I lived and spend my time.

They are correct choose a network then worry about your phone. Apple Fan seem to not understand that.

I have lived in 4 different rural markets and regularly travel between them. Currently, in NC, Verizon is everywhere since they bought out a couple providers like Rural Cellular and I forget the other one.

When I left Verizon, they had full bar 3G coverage at my house. They had just upgraded about 3 months before I went with an iPhone. With AT&T;, I need to drive almost 20 miles to even find 3G coverage.

With Verizon, I had a Palm Treo 700 and it was very rare to see even the analog signal at all.

If Apple would make the iPhone for Verizon, i'd switch back in a blink, even if I had to pay early termination, it's that bad. I typically lose between 20-40% of my calls. There is several dead zones too, that I can't even drive down without losing it.

Well sorry you have no right to complain your dropped calls. You CHOOSE to go with AT&T; for the iPhone knowing these problems are in your area. You ACCEPTED that as part of the problem. I recommend you go back to Verizon as soon as your contract is up.
The iPhone is NOT that great. Good phone but not some super phone that is poor local network.

so my plan is to hold off ALL DAY and start the stream at like 1 or two in the morn (yes, it is a school night..) and hopefully it will be less bogged down then.

I liked it. I was happy with the update to the AppleTV - I think I'll finally get off the fence and buy one. The Capsule seems interesting. The MBA is outside of what I want to spend, but it's pretty awesome nonetheless.

It would have been nice to see updated specs on the Mini and other notebooks, but hey, you can't have everything! :)

You do know that Windows had an App Store before OS X, but it got axed due to it being badly implemented which resulted in lack of custom? All they are doing there is returning and improving one of their own features, not copying Apple.

If we consider only games, Microsoft's own game store has been running since December 2009. Games for Windows LIVE Marketplace.

bunch of haters. In a society where our own government is the biggest crook of all , you all have the nerve to jump down this guy's throat because of someone else's mistake!?!?

Plus, if you have ever been to a best buy, employees jump on and off registers all the time without logging off first. They will never know which employee did it.

also consider that this was this guy's karma coming back to him. He did good and now he is getting rewarded.

Plus if this cashier is dumb enough to mistake $230 for $500 plus tax then does Best Buy really want him working register and relying on customer honesty to save his job?

I say, im glad you got an iPad2 for $230. ENjoy it because it will probably never happen again!

Yah the OP didn't bring any of these "haters" forward by making this thread....

I mean, WTF did the OP really expect the reaction to be?

    A standing ovation? Fedex'd cookies?

Apple released a new iPad 2 television commercial which carries the same tone as the We Believe commercial released in early April.
If you asked a parent, they might call it intuitive. If you asked a musician, they might call it inspiring. To a doctor, it's groundbreaking. To a CEO, it's powerful. To a teacher, it's the future. If you asked a child, she might call it magic. And if you asked us, we'd say it's just getting started.

The new ad is on Apple's iPad page and YouTube channel.

Your minutes and seconds are thus never reset, so your "timer" is never reset (this is completely a seperate issue from NSTimer, hence why I say you probably don't understand the scope of NSTimer. It has no knowledge of these variables and thus doesn't reset them when you invalidate myTimer or newTimer).

That has been pointed out. The OP is stuck thinking the timer is broken, when it works exactly as it should. I think the OP thinks that those variables are part of the timer. He also first thought "self" was the timer. I asked if/where he was resetting the seconds, and if he wanted a reset function or not. For all we know, he wants a start stop timer that doesn't reset. That would be a normal implementation.

Also, could you please post a screenshot of your Interface Builder associations ? (under File's Owner, the tab in Inspector with all the Outlets and Actions), because I can't quite figure out what buttons are tied to what actions.

That would be very helpful. Also, explain how you want the program to act as the user uses it.

You also still have 2 timers. Why do you believe you need both ? Have you tried simplifying the code to using only 1 ?

He was told elsewhere that he could not reuse a timer. I think he is still stuck on the concept (not necessarily the definition) of a pointer, and of the life-cycle of an object. I'm not sure he grasps that in the posted samples, the NSTimer was not being reused.

None of these are trick questions, It's me trying to understand what you think this code should do vs what it's actually doing. Now, if you don't answer my questions, I can't really help you here short of writing the code for you, which does not help you learn (I have a good idea how to make the code I wrote last night do what you want to do very quickly, but I doubt you can afford me as a consultant at my exorbitant rates!).

I have some code to post to help the OP. But for not, I'm about to get a parking ticket, so I have to leave. But I will post it today.

Some people will never understand the power of Apple and the fundamental insight that makes Apple's products so powerful.

It's not a feature list. It's not a slick vaneer.

It's a deep understanding of design. How to make a product work naturally that empowers us to achieve what we want with the tool.

It's rarely more. It's rarely new pretty pictures.

Great art is knowing when to stop.

Do you believe that the perpetual delay of Microsoft's Vista OS is allowing Apple to temporarily grab up some of the markey share?

Maybe, but the "Vista effect" is really just a reminder of how slowly Microsoft moves, compared to Apple. It has always been thus. Long wait, yawn. Long wait, yawn. This is what it means to be a Microsoft customer. Have you heard anyone say that they are anxiously anticipating Vista? Microsoft will try to generate some synthetic excitement over Vista, but in reality, hardly anyone will really care.

The bottom line is, Apple is cool again -- and this is reflected in their sales numbers. This is due in no small part to the iPod, of course.
