Here come the girls: Cheryl Cole, Nicola Roberts and right, Kimberley Walsh and Sarah Harding of Girls Aloud attend the Pride of Britain Awards in London tonight, but fellow member Nadine Coyle was missing again

Decked in all their finery, Cheryl Cole and her trusty trio of Girls Aloud bandmates have turned out to the Pride of Britain Awards tonight - all in the name of charity.

But, once again, fellow member Nadine Coyle was nowhere in sight. Instead she is desperately trying to prop up her shaky solo career at an album signing in Dublin following her dismal chart performance this weekend.

Perhaps in a bid to dampen speculation of a rift with Nadine, the four girls carefully posed for photographs in pairs rather than as a full group at the central London gala.

Blushing beauties: Cheryl and Nicola sat inside the ceremony, held at the Grosvenor House Hotel

Cheryl, dressed in a flowing black gown, smiled as she stood next to Nicola Roberts, who was wearing a skin-coloured number. Presumably she was putting on a brave face following the controversy surrounding her X Factor no vote last night.

Meanwhile lady in red Kimberley Walsh looked a vision in her outfit as she stood next to a contrasting Sarah Harding, who went for the leggy look in a beige asymmetrical dress.

Nadine, whose single Insatiable limped into the singles charts at No.26 this weekend, is now promoting the album of the same name, which was released today.

No show: Nadine pictured in Dublin earlier today at an album signing for her solo LP Insatiable

Clearly she thinks promotional work is more important right now, after the contrasting success of Cheryl whose single Promise This hit No.1 last week, followed up by a No.1 charting album, Messy Little Raindrops, this week.

Miss Coyle is reluctant to discuss the apparent 'feud' between her and the other four Girls Aloud members, which has seemingly reignited in recent weeks as Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh and Sarah Harding attended Cheryl Cole's performance of Promise This on the X Factor.

Mixing with royalty: Cheryl and Dannii Minogue chat to Prince Charles inside the venue along with Susan Boyle, who performed at the event, and Simon Cowell

Lending their support: Dannii looked stunning in a full-length strapless black ball gown, showing a little more flesh than her fellow X Factor judge Cheryl and, right, a smoking Cowell looked dapper in a suit

Rivalries aside: Last night's X Factor reject Treyc Cohen and the surviving contestant Katie Waissel, seen right Cher Lloyd. Both Treyc and Katie had a gold theme to their outfits while Cher wore a black lace layered design

Glamourpuss: X Factor's Rebecca Ferguson makes her arrival to the event, which honours unsung heroes from across Britain

Nadine later said she was not a fan of the X Factor and wouldn't like to perform on it because it would probably involve miming. Her comments came after Cheryl was widely criticised for lip-synching parts of her performance.

Cheryl, Kimberley, Nicola and Sarah also partied together at Harding's Halloween party recently while Nadine sang at G-A-Y.

The girls were out tonight to attend the Daily Mirror's Pride of Britain Awards, which honours unsung heroes from across the country.

WAGs on patrol: Coleen Rooney and, right, Abbey Clancy also opted for black, seemingly a popular colour for the evening among the celebs

Pretty in pink: Kelly Brook stood out from the crowd in her bright number while, right a pregnant Myleene Klass showed off her burgeoning bump

Yet more black: Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, Daybreak host Christine Bleakley and former Spice Girl Emma Bunton

Other guests included the X Factor contestants, with last night's reject Treyc Cohen and rival Katie Wassiel putting their differences aside to attend the event at the Grosvenor House Hotel.

A pregnant Myleene Klass and Holly Willoughby also took to the red carpet, as did the likes of Cheryl's fellow X Factor judge Dannii Minogue.

Amanda Holden was another VIP, along with Daybreak hosts Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles.

The Daily Mirror's Pride of Britain Awards will be handed out at a star-studded ceremony hosted by Carol Vorderman. It will be shown on ITV1 on Wednesday.

Big smiles: Holly Willoughby, who recently announced she was pregnant, and right Gary and Danielle Lineker

Girl power: The Saturdays looked stunning in their respective outfits, from left, Una, Frankie, Vanessa, Mollie, and Rochelle

Be my guest: Carol Vorderman and her lookalike daughter Katie and, right, The Prince Of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall will also attend the awards for the first time in honour of the 10th anniversary of the Prince's Trust Young Achiever Award.

Britain's Got Talent runner-up Susan Boyle ended the night by singing for Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall.

Thousands of people nominated unsung heroes for Pride of Britain. Appeals for nominations were made on national TV - including the Daybreak show - on the radio and in the press.

The winners were chosen by a judging panel which included Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson, chairman of the Royal College of General Practitioners Prof Stephen Field, Olympic double-gold medallist Dame Kelly Holmes, ITN News anchorman Mark Austin, music guru Simon Cowell, Daybreak hosts Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles, and Pride of Britain host Carol Vorderman.

Here comes trouble: Russell Brand jetted in from Madrid to make the event while Jonathan Ross, centre, appeared to be experimenting with some facial hair and was joined by wife Jane Goldman. Right, Tom Jones
