Google Video + YouTube + Myspace + Apple's Servers = enough bandwidth?
If not, could someone put up a torrent? From what it sounds like, the torrent would download quicker than the quicktime stream. Especially once you start getting 100+ seeders.
The question is, how many hardcore mac users know how to forward their ports? I'm making a guess that the average point-and-click user isn't also the one to know the exact date of the yearly keynote. Isn't it more of a developer/advanced user thing?

What school. I logged in under education and it is $649 for the 20".
Apple is usually slow to update things like Education pricing etc.
The Edu price will go down within a few days. :)

Starts with an ACD update to compliment the new MP's models will include built in iSight FW800 and LED backlighting in 20"either 22" or 24" and 30"
Moves onto MBP refreshes the line adding Penryn processors in 2.4 and 2.6 and a 2.8 BTO more ram and more HD options also adds 17" LED backlighting and maybe a slight case redesign
Moves onto Software releases itunes 7.6 with rentals new contracts with more studios and adding DVD's to library on select titles and games for iPhone and iPod touch
Also releases OS X 10.5.2 to go with new notebooks and iTunes 7.6 with some new features

Yet you fail to see the bigger picture. They shouldn't have had to raise the funds in the short time they had if idiot Bush was competent enough not to hire an incompetent director for FEMA or made the idiotic decision to add another layer of bureaucracy when placed under Homeland Security.

Thin Macbook, new displays, SDK released :p as well as the new itunes with movie rentals and a new iphone/ipoud touch firmware to support new itunes, movie rentals, and add some cool stuff. Maybe new iphone, but doubtful with so much other stuff (as more then just a mention of what its gunna be like, shipping apx date) and maybe an :apple:TV update for movie rentals, or atleast a new mention of them.

Fully aware of the fakes around, my beats are the early solo version (not HD). I have heard all the stories about them being fragile. I'm careful with my gear so I'm hoping I don't have a problem.
Mines are from a legit UK distributor - so I don't have to worry about fakes. I much prefer the matt finish to the Glossy HD ones.

To use on other devices requires you to have to go through a lot of unnecessary and time consuming hoops.
DRM should be unified - one DRM standard for ALL devices.
While I agree with that (unified DRM), no jumps are required to use the songs on a Windows or OS X computer nor an audio CD player.

Started with a used PowerBook 5300cs running 7.6.1, and quickly (about 2 years) walked it up through all the versions to 9.1 as I could afford to upgrade the ram. Got my first experience of OS X on a PowerBook G3 Pismo 500mhz, with 10.0.4. I'd have to say 10.2.8 really marked OS X becoming a mature system, it was by far more stable than all versions of X prior to it. Used every release since, and they just get better, now with Snow Leopard on the main machine, a MacBook Pro 13"
Still rocking 9.1 on a PowerBook 2400c hooked up to a Bose SoundDock and using iTunes 2 to stream internet radio (running as I type this).

Yes, hilarious. It beats me how they managed to give out the design awards every other year before the app store existed, it just couldn't have been physically possible.

Ignore me if you wish, but I'm pretty sad about not getting the machine promised by the rumour mill. I'm happy for y'all with your updated photo software, but wouldn't you have liked it to be true that we'd get a nice new C2D MBP to use it on?
a C2D MBP would give you what? Maybe a 20% speed bump. I doubt you'd notice except if you used a stop watch. For photographers and Videographers I doubt C2D would bing even a 20% boost as their main bottleneck is the speed of the disk.
Try this experiment: Bring up Activity Monitor and see if the CPU is as 100% if it is not a faster CPU will do nothing for you. On a Mac the CPU is at 100% mostly when transcoding or redering, those tasks will go faster after the speed bump

If the iTunes Music Store is going to be called the iTunes Store (iTMS > iTS?) then shouldn't the name iTunes change as well to coincide with the change in available media? :o
Maybe they can get Senator Ted Stevens (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Series_of_tubes) to change his mind if they rename it the "iTubes Media Store"? The name would look similar enough that most people probably wouldn't even notice.

Since I am the local technology guru, people are just shy of harassing given the constant barrage of questions just asking if I own one. They are amazed that I do not own an iPad or tablet since they are "popular".
I can afford one but the lack of MKV playback is the deal killer. So that makes it $499 to browse the internet.

I don't know where this assertion that AMD are rubbish comes from.
Agreed. AMD has traditionally been significantly faster and cheaper than Intel. Further more it is only AMD's huge performance lead that woke Intel up enough to drop the mhz myth, accept multi-core as the future, and start making decent processors again.
It just so happens that we are at a very unusual point in time where AMD currently has neither a performance nor price advantage over Intel, but these things can change very fast (as the past few months have shown).
All that said, the facts that this rumor is based upon do in no way lead to the conclusion that Apple is considering using AMD processors, and further it probably wouldn't work well into Apple's current product line-up and marketing strategy to switch to AMD at this time.

Yeah. I love the products but I loathe the man. Then again I'm just a regular user and not one of those scary MacDroids. You know, the ones with the blank stare, the ones that repeat mantras about Windows viruses and the dreaded blue screen of death... some even believe Windows gives you AIDS. They're kind of like scientologists or Jehova's Witnesses. But you gotta keep in mind those were the ones he was addressing, as always. Hence the smugness. The Keynote is his church and he is their god. Notice the constant applause and cheering over stuff like, oh, some new button or menu item. Mac will always be my second platform because these people just scare the poop out of me.
