Apparently so. On a side note, a carbon fiber or rubbarized back would have been better for the ipad. Either lighter or more durable (shows less wear).

If some of the components come from Japan, is Apple scanning the finished units for radiation?
The recommendation is that you don't feed the iPad to an infant. Other uses are OK.

I agree with the age point. What's exciting for Australian cricket (in a warped way) is that with an aging side and with a young English side, the competition between both nations can only get better.
The Australians are no longer unbeatable. Which sucks from a national pride point of view but is great for cricket lovers!
In other news, McGrath and Warney have apparently vowed to return for the Ashes series in Australia.

Alright, so after rereading all the posts in this thread, I just wanna clear one thing up that I'm still confused about - streaming recorded shows works over both wifi and 3g, bu streaming live tv only (officially) happens over wifi, right? And it will work on any wifi network, not just the one that your eyetv device is on? Finally, has anyone tried streaming live tv over 3g by using
a jailbroken phone?
I've downloaded the app and would try doing all those things myself, but I can't get it to connect, as I have not validated my "my eyetv" account. How does one validate said account, anyways?? I've gotten no emails and can't seem to find that as an option.

For someone that created a fluff thread, you're taking yourself too seriously. What did you expect, people to not defend their purchase?
I think TS is in buyer's remorse, and would like some support on having purchased the 11".
My opinion stands: For the equal-but-opposite reason that I would never buy the 13", there's that group of people that would never buy the 11". The latter group is too practical. The former, too cool. It's personal, as is productivity.
Not to forget those who are going to use it as their only Mac and primary computer.

A more fluid UI. Things should move the way they do when you are in expose and hit the space bar and then toggle between windows--that looks and feels fluid. You should be able to work with one window at a time with only it highlighted the way a window is highlighted in expose (so basically the expose interface, but let you edit the active window). To be clear, I do also mean that the rest of the screen would still be dimmed. When you hover over the menu bar it would light up, and the dock would etc, as well. But I think an environment where only the front window is lit could be marvelous in certain scenarios. As it is now, when you click on a window you've found through expose and you return to the jumble of windows, it's just sort of overwhelming. Also, expose will help you find a window you've dragged to the bottom of the screen, but once you find it with expose and click on it, it'll still be hidden at the bottom of the screen instead of moving to middle of the screen.
The dock at the bottom of the with naked icons that lap over other windows is too overwhelming looking too. Make all icons a square-ish shape like iOS icons and make the dock something much simpler than the shimmery tray it is now.
The menu bar will eventually need to go away. I'm not sure it can yet. I imagine the functions of the menu bar will go into the dock eventually as right click options or that Apple may move toward applications having all functions available maybe not as menus in windows, but in some way incorporated into the windows. I'm not sure what will happen exactly, but I know Apple likes the iOS concept of the app becoming the device. When you open Maps on an iPhone, it's a Maps machine, etc. So I think we will see a move toward even more simplicity. The Mac will become more like a very simple appliance that retains its power. I think Apple is considering that with the removal of title bars from Quicktime X and the album viewer in iTunes 10.
So to sum all of that up, everything looks junky with lots of windows scattered all over and the dock looks messy. Clean that up. Apple could do a lot of fundamental changes in the UI's look and behaviors. It's in no way at an end point of reaching a pinnacle of perfection. I haven't used Windows 7, but it looks like it may be continuing to make progress in appearance and behaviors, and there's no reason for Apple to not continue changing, which they haven't dramatically done since the very first version of OS X, in terms of UI. In fact the proposed single window mode of OS X that was dropped before its release may be due for a comeback in some new incarnation!
On to Spotlight. Is it just me or did Spotlight used to be a lot better? There are so few sorting options and by default it displays so much junk (web pages you've viewed, etc). Also, if you are constantly recording to the disk, Spotlight will not index and doesn't tell you this. Spotlight should have an indicator of whether it is up to date or not and a progress bar of when it is updating. The only way to tell right now is to go into activity monitor after stopping recording and let MDS start running and wait for it to return to 0% processor to know you can continue with disk recording activities (video recording in my case).
Safari seems to be the best browser on the Mac, but it takes up a whole lotta RAM.
I am sure there are more things I will think of in time . . .
I got a lot of what I asked for today! Pretty happy with the direction the OS is taking.
Funny part is, most people who are opposing the mosque aren't jews, they're christians. As a matter of fact, BLOOMBERG (can't get anymore jewish than that) is a supporter of the mosque project.
Bloomberg has no choice but to support the Mosque ... he needs to stay politically correct
How is magnesium going to prevent the screen from being scratched? I could care less what the ipod is made out of. The only thing I care about is how is Apple going to prevent the screen from being scratched. Apple should do what Nokia has done for the Nokia 8801 cell phone, and use a saphire crystal (Or hell if Apple wants to go cheaper then use a mineral cyrstal) for the iPod screen. This will prevent scratches completly. The only draw back with saphire is that it will chip, but keep in mind watch makers uses saphire and mineral crystal all the time on GOOD watches. These watches are used daily like an iPod and people hardly drop them hard enough or bang them hard enough to chip them. Hell I bang my watch really hard sometimes (on accident) and just expect to see a chip, when I look down my watch is perfectly fine, no scratches or chips, and I have had it for over two years.
just my thoughts
late
Well, it might be a problem of cost since the Nokia 8801 is around $500+. There might be a problem of manufacture, cost, and readability of LCDs through crystal. Or Apple may not think is necessary.

I'm having an issue with this: no matter what I do I cannot get the phone to connect. It just says "Could not connect to EyeTV service unavailable (503)". This is via the local WiFi/Wired network and/or My EyeTV (which has a green light on the EyeTV preferences. Any ideas?

It's not that they shouldn't be punished, it's the concern that the punishment in China will be excessive for this nonviolent crime.
Then take it up with the Chinese, and not Apple.
Apple are not responsible for local laws, they may certainly put pressure on suppliers (eg Foxconn and the suicide thing), and Apple have certainly got very involved with suppliers who employ children/falsify employment records/etc, as was demonstrated recently when several suppliers had their contracts canceled.
However, Apple have every right to expect confidentiality from their suppliers (as does every business), and Apple are not responsible for the individuals when they are caught out.
And despite China being barbaric, I sincerely doubt these two guys will be executed. But if they are, then they knew the penalty - lets just hope the bribe was big enough.

There are two things that will help us receive our orders. (1) Apple is speeding up production and getting caught up on demand. (2) A lot of people that that originally placed orders are buying via retail and canceling their orders, which pushes up our processing time.
Please people out there, if you are one of those lucky ones, and don't have intention to keep online order, please cancel.
Thanks.
When is Apple going to figure out how to implement software patches instead of forcing people to download a whole copy of the OS for every little update?
Yeah, ~700MB a time is getting really daft. I can't believe they couldn't find a better way to do this.
It's typical of Apple though, assuming everyone in the world has the same internet connection that they do.
Was the eMac ever available for everyone?
Yes, not at first, but once it became popular it was available to everyone. And for most of eMac's life.
Personally, I wish they would have just made the old one smaller...I think the old one being like a jump drive/mp3 player was pretty handy. Really besides the size and shape there is nothing new here...Too bad.
Same... I'm glad I have my little flash/mp3 player. I've used it many many times allready. Because I allways have my shufflewith me, and draging around a little dock thing isn't really handy to me.
Kinda sucks they took away the 512 model, scrolling through 200+ songs doesn't sound like it would be fun. I get annoyed with my 512 sometimes(though I absolutely love it deerly) scrolling. I will be buying the new nano just for podcasts i think.
