holy crap, when did this happen, now more core solo in the mac mini, imac with new screen size and core 2 duo.
So macbook pros are next, (with a 20" screen size :D )

one the good side. I once had to swap out a battery from apple before.
it was quick and easy. honestly i am a power user, travel tons.
could use a new fresh pair of batteries anyway. i am checking to see if any of my 3 are swapable.
hey not a bad thing. this is preventative. my batteries have been fine, aside from losing life after tons of charges.

I actually did get confirmation that my battery qualified. Took me awhile to get onto the page, but it finally worked. After that, it let me fill out a form to send me a new battery.
I'm not too bummed this has happened; after all, my battery is only holding about 90% of its original charge. However, it's funny that I've already had a battery recalled for my 18-month old PowerBook (15-inch) so this will be the third battery for me.

Isn't everyone assuming here that the root problem is a heatsink issue? Has Apple ever announced that it was? Perhaps it isn't at all, or that's only part of the equation, and it is in fact an SMC control problem.
The heatsink most definitively the culprit in my case. I had my MB 1.83GHz repaired three days ago and haven't had a RSD since. The heatsink was replaced, but I didn't get a free screw.

The Germans were supposed to let the people abandon ship before they sunk it. They didn't do that with the Lusitania and in other cases I believe. So IMHO, WWI was a justified war.

HTC and LG have the factory space to try and compete, so they do.
Nintendo makes products for 6 year old girls.
Apple is not interested in what is today known as "3D" which is just two out of focus images hurting your eyes.

Apple will never make a laptop that is that size because it would mean that they would have to take out the optical drive and make the computer ultimately worthless without a docking station. Apple will never make a computer that isn't fully capable from the start.
I agree with you that a 2 lb. laptop isn't possible with an optical drive, but a 3 lb. laptop is still possible:

But backups and updates are critical for such a device. That is my whole point... Are you arguing that it does not need ota syncing or just arguing? Obviously its serviceable without tethering, but you do need to sync it to a computer for it to work. Thats like if I had to plug my scooter into my car just to get it going. This was only a speed bump. I believe Apple will release Touch Macs (already �Apple Inc.) as an additional product line along side standard Macs, to ease the transition.
There will always be keyboards, for keyboard shortcuts if not the obvious bulk text entry. Half the work done by pro-applications (not just Apple's) is done with keyboard shortcuts. It's the mouse that's done for. Apple finally perfect the mouse, and th
