    oh yeah - its gonna be in my bedroom also serving as media player for watching itunes movies and streams off the internet. Its really struggling at the moment so a graphics upgrade seemed like a good idea for the price that was on offer.

    Not necessarily, it could be a loss leader. Apple's margin on products is generally 35%, however.I was just about to post about this likely being a loss leader. They're generating buzz and traffic in their stores. Their losses on the iPad are designed to turn profit on other sales.

    So what is the early upgrade price on Verizon?

    Unless I am mistaken you cannot do early upgrade with Verizon. I thought that you had to wait until like 20 of your 24 months were up otherwise it was full retail price.

    AT&T; I think is just trying to make sure that people don't purchase phone, cancel and make money selling to eBay

    educating people as an industry? Who does jobs think he is? Most of the population may be below average to his economical standards... but what the f was that? People know more than he thinks... It is simple for Apple to track anyone on a cellular network and using an iPhone... but it isn't worth the legal risk is it, if the person's' being tracked isn't worth it... but if Apple or anyone really wanted to... there is nothing to stop it with the infrastructure of iOS and cellular networks today...

    You can make the dock transparent with Mirage Dock. Works with 2D or 3D dock.

    And I guess increased storage could be used as a USB key. I'd like to see them get rid of the dock and go back to the Shuffle plugging right into your USB port. (I think this used to be the case? Never owned a Shuffle.) So useful for file storage. In that case, basically any size Shuffle could be useful.

    maybe a 3rd party company will design a cable/adaptor/thing that you can conveniently carry with the shuffle to use as a flash drive without the need of the dock

    out of the box the 2gen shuffle capabilities as a flash drive are almost useless IMO

    The 2gen form factor does not lend itself to a direction connection via USB due to the shape of it. The 1gen shuffle had problems with this too which prompted the 1gen dock. I recall that the 1gen could not fit into the USB ports on the eMac.

    And for that matter, it looks to me that the 2gen shuffle is so thin that it could not accommodate the USB connector anyway.

    Yes, a non-dock cable for the 2gen shuffle to USB would be the ticket. Heck, this is what Apple should have included with it instead of the itty-bitty docklet.

    I agree - I'd want the shuffle for it's thumb drive ability in addition to music player. And for that reason, a 2GB size would be very nice indeed!

    I still use a Verizon dumbphone. I see no real reason to switch to iphone, simply because I have little interest in the device (plus, I can't afford a data plan right now, which is required when you buy a Verizon smartphone)

    i have iphone4 and i have download cool apps from cydia, now i have ipad1 and wanted to use some of the apps on it, like 5 column icon , 5 icon dock and so on.. will it work on my ipad ?

    But....is there really no way to lock portrait viewing so it doesn't go into landscape mode every time you turn it? If so...boo!!

    I don't run script to enable it, i am enabling it manually from the preference pane in system preferences. It is because my dual G4 is always on and I don't have to turn it off. It is running as a server of my media files and my work station as well.

    Looks like somebody doesn't know how to read an annual report.
    AT&T; (the whole company) generated $31.36 billion in revenue for ALL of 2010.
    (2010 Q4 total revenue (wireless and wireline) was $9.6 billion, with $6.6 billion of that allocated to capital expenses.)

    Of the $31.36 billion earned in $15.18 billion came from the wireless unit.
    The rest was from wireline (U-Verse) services.

    Out of that $31.36 billion, AT&T; had $20.3 billion in capital expenses.
    That leaves just a hair over $10 billion for upgrades and any new R&D.;
    Their LTE roll out is expected to cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $19 billion dollars.

    So yeah... they need the money to expand while remaining profitable.
    The question is, who is willing to pay it?
    My guess is most will and AT&T; knows it.

    Sigh, excuse me. I mis-stated the 4Q numbers.

    With that said, all of your numbers still convinces me that thinking a $50 increase is in anyway a "needed" plan by AT&T; is unpersuasive.

    thats not the issue i'm contesting, what i'm saying is why do most american parents take issue at their kids having sex, it makes no sense unless your kid is stupid and has random unsafe sex.
