National pride: Parade king Marc Anthony and his wife Jennifer Lopez make their way up Fifth Avenue during the Puerto Rican Day Parade in New YorkJennifer Lopez has always been proud of her Puerto Rican heritage.
So Hollywood's most successful Latin American superstar couldn't have been prouder as she led a parade through the streets of New York on Puerto Rica day.
The 40-year-old waved her parents national flag with undisguised pride as she and husband Marc Anthony rode in the back seat of a limousine.
Revellers spilled out onto the streets to photograph the couple, blocking the roads.
Jennifer, the mother of twins, showed off her slim figure in a strapless white dress.
Underneath she wore a black bra. While an unusual look, the bra prevented her from any accidental flashes of flesh due to her energetic waving.
Anthony wore a sash declaring him King Of the Parade.

Jennifer grew up in the Bronx with her parents Guadalupe (née Rodríguez), a kindergarten teacher, and David Lopez, a computer specialist, who were both born in Ponce, Puerto Rico.
Anthony was also born in New York, to Guillermina, a housewife, and Felipe Muñiz, a musician and hospital lunchroom worker.

She gushed about the experience.
'I'm such a hard worker, and I'm kind of intense about my job. It's great to work with someone who is just as intense and passionate and crazy about getting everything right, she said.
'[Cruise] called me a month before and said, "I have this idea. I'm doing this thing for the MTV Movie Awards, and I want it to be a surprise",' she told Extra.

Lopez also denied reports that she and Anthony had renewed their wedding vows.
'We didn't. This is an absolute lie,' The Back-Up Plan star said.
'We just had our anniversary and had some people over to the house.'
