Split: Ashlee Simpson has filed for divorce from ex-Fall Out Boy rocker husband Pete Wentz after two and a half years of married lifeAshlee Simpson has split from her husband of two and a half years and has filed for divorce.
The singer, 26, married former Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz, 31, in May 2008 and have two-year-old son Bronx Mowgli together.
The blonde cited 'irreconcilable differences' in the documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday.
TMZ have reported that Ashlee is seeking joint legal custody and primary physical custody of their toddler. She has requested that Pete be granted visitation rights.
She is also asking for spousal and child support. The couple reportedly did not sign a prenuptial agreement.
Ashlee was last seen with her husband on Friday when the pair stopped at a Los Angeles branch of Starbucks for a coffee.
They looked comfortable with each other and did not show signs of an impending separation.

'We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our No. 1 priority.
'We ask that everyone honour our privacy as we navigate this next phase of our lives.'
The court papers were signed on Monday by Simpson-Wentz who took her husband's last name but she is now seeking to go back to her maiden name.
True to their statement the couple were pictured holding hands and seemed to be on great terms over the weekend as they spent time together as a family with Bronx.
Remaining friends: The couple said in a statement that they are 'deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx'Ashlee and Pete began dating in late 2006 and were seen kissing at a nightclub in New York.
They announced their engagement in April 2008 and were married by Ashlee's father Joe Simpson a month later. Their son Bronx was born that November.
The bride wore an ivory lace wedding gown by Monique Lhuillier and jewels by William Noble as she and Wentz exchanged vows in front of 150 guests at her parents' Los Angeles home.
Her sister Jessica served as maid of honour. Wentz's English bulldog, Hemingway, was the ring bearer.
The singer and actress is the younger sibling of Jessica Simpson who herself has gone through her own divorce.
She was married to singer Nick Lachey for three years and divorced in 2005. She recently became engaged to NFL player Eric Johnson.
Ashlee has also listed some items she wishes to be deemed as 'separate property' in her split from Wentz.
These include her 'earnings and accumulations' after their date of separation and 'miscellaneous jewellery and other personal effects'.
